Meet Joe C.

This is me at the 2013 Copenhagen Beer Celebration, in my hayday of constant beer fests and moderate-to-high alcohol craft beer consumption. I was there to interview an emerging celebrity brewer in support of my brewer mini-bio series on my Craft Beer Coach blog. I love everything about the craft beer industry. The David vs. Goliath story. The experimentation with flavors. The venues. The people.
As 2014 rolled around, I really started to suffer from the near-daily consumption of moderate-to-high ABV craft beer. I could not have 2 or 3 beers wtihout getting a headache and feeling that tired, worn-down, and fuzzy feeling the day after. I started cutting back on my consumption, only occasionally having a session-level ABV beer here and there while discontinuing my professional role in the industry.
A few years went by and I thought my craft beer career and passion would remain as a past fond memory.
In the spring of 2018, I learned of a few nonalcoholic craft breweries and was intrigued. Could this movement be a new lease on a craft beer career? I dove in headfirst and started drinking every NA craft beer I could order or have sent to me as samples. With some patience for palate adjustment, I soon found that the NA products provide a taste experience on par with the well-established craft brands. I was hooked and immediately became a strong advocate for NA craft beer.
Bill Shufelt, founder of Athletic Brewing Co., deemed me, "The voice of NA craft beer" for my social media advocacy for the market segment and it stuck. Hence, why I've started this blog site.
While I still sample just about everything while deploying a seriously moderated approach, I am passionate about the gravitational pull that NA craft brewing will have on providing a greater diversity of ABV choices for consumers.
I will do my part for that effort. I'm currently building out a brew space for developing ultra-low ABV brews in the 0.0 % to 4.0 % range.
